What is The Oxford Program Career Change Bootcamp?
The Oxford Program is a 7-week, expert-led, career transition workshop and the only one of its kind. As a career guidance intervention, we deliver it using the most advanced counseling tools available. Weekly group telecoaching calls augment the online interactions.
The Oxford Program is a GROUP workshop. Imagine having a dozen counselors who get to know your situation and recommend options for you.
Imagine being surrounded by other adults who are working together to help each other find their dream career.

With my experience as a former Wall Street executive and Oxford University rowing coach, I have followed my calling and built a program for finding your “natural vocation”…what you were meant to do.
By the end you will have a clear and powerful vision for your future work that electrifies virtually every aspect of your life and propels you towards success.

What Can You Expect from Our Oxford Method?
- Your Personal Career Vision. We will design a powerful blueprint of your best possible future.
- Discover Your Natural Abilities. Through the gold standard of ability testing, you will discover your innate strengths, how you are uniquely and often surprisingly talented, and the type of work you’re “best built for.”
- Uncover Your Passions. To get to the point you need to be, you need an underlying sense of mission. You need a sense of career destiny to guide you past the daily obstacles and pains. That is where we need to get you.
- Coaching. You are led by me, Steve Bohler, and another Oxford guru, start-to-finish. Our goal is to answer your most critical questions, inspire and support you to make the best possible decision, help you to get focused, stay motivated, and overcome obstacles, and help generate discoveries and breakthroughs.
- Discover Your Options. From starting over to being your own boss to leveraging your existing skills and experiences, you’ll learn of important career options that fit your situation – many of which you’ve probably never heard of.
- Career Recommendations: Very often we’re too close to our own situation to know what we should do. You need an outside opinion and you’ll get even more than you expect, including career recommendations coming from several tests, coaches, and your fellow participants.
- Career Decision Technology. Help you understand which option represents the best possible decision you can make.
The Oxford Method: How It Works
The workshop takes place online along with other participants (Imagine being together with people in your same situation who are helping each other to find their dream career).
The process is led by TWO COACHES: The Oxford Program Founder, Steve Bohler, as well as another Oxford expert coach.
WHERE? You go through the program from the comfort of your own surroundings. You progress at times most convenient to you.
THE OXFORD METHOD PROCESS
THREE stages and “technologies” are implemented: Whole Person Technology, Whole Options Technology, and Career Decision Technology.
STAGE 1: Your Vocational Identity
- What is my true self?
- In what ways am I uniquely talented?
- Where do I fit?
- What do I have to offer?
This is the cornerstone. Without this cornerstone, you’ll flounder like thousands of others who are trying to find their way out of the wrong career. It’s a fundamental concept that’s been around for thousands of years.
Each of us is compelled by the need to achieve fulfillment and create value in accordance with our “Vocational Identity.” Your Vocational Identity comes from your distinctiveness – your rich and varied characteristics that fuel your uniqueness and are the source of your Personal Career Vision as well as your special value to the world.
While other services measure only 1 or 2 aspects of your nature, we leverage Whole Person Technology to assess the whole you. Fundamental to Stage 1 is the identification and articulation of your natural abilities using the Highlands Ability Battery… the gold-standard in natural ability testing.
How accurate is it? This is not like the aptitude testing from years ago, or the tests available in certain books out there. The information and suggestions that it makes are HIGHLY ACCURATE. Many medical, technology, and science students use this aptitude testing to choose an area of specialization. The testing is psychometrically valid and reliable. The minimum reliability standard for the 19 tests that make up The Highlands Ability Battery™ is r = .80

We will uncover your...
- Natural Talents. People who use their strongest talents daily in their work tend to be more successful and motivated.
- Personality. A satisfying fit between you and your work requires the full self-expression of your personality. You must be who you are meant to be.
- Work Values. Your work values determine what needs must be met by your work. If you ignore these, satisfaction is virtually impossible.
- Natural Skills. Skills are different than natural talents. They show what you've developed through education and experience.
- Interests/Passions. People who are enthusiastic about their work are usually engaged in something that is, to them, important and meaningful. They are proud of what they do and find the subject matter to be compelling.
- Assets. Careers that leverage your uniqueness are more likely to make you happy.
- Environment Fit. Each person flourishes in some work environments and finds others stressful or even "toxic." Rarely have people evaluated all aspects of their environment in a way that allows them to design a career that best supports their success and satisfaction.

STAGE 2: Your Options

- What are my options?
- How do the pieces of the puzzle fit together in a realistic way?
You need to entertain and evaluate all of your options. Most people don’t know all of their options. They think only of easy options (like the “grin and bear it” approach) or starting over in something completely new. The truth is, there are a lot of niche options along the spectrum.
Whole Options Technology means that you’ll learn of unique career options that fit your unique personality and talents as well as meaningful careers that make use of your existing work experience and skills. You have a lot of great options, many of which you've probably never heard of.
In the Oxford Program, we will explore your best options in the following scenarios:
- Career upgrade. See how to shape your existing career so that it fits you better and provides you with more satisfaction.
- Starting anew. You'll learn of specific career option(s) that would be most fitting to your unique aptitudes, values, personality, and preferences.
- Leveraging your education and work experience. Learn of the best alternative yet meaningful options that can leverage your developed skills, education, and experience . You have more options than you realize!
- Entrepreneurial options. Discover what specific type of business you would most enjoy.
We will also cover Opportunity. In the program, we will carefully analyze potential future careers to make sure they are realistic and meet your salary requirements.
STAGE 3: Your Best Possible Future

- How do I get from here to there?
- Who and what will help?
- What are the first steps?
You need to make the best decision. By understanding your absolute requirements and your Personal Career Vision, you are finally ready to really evaluate your best options, take the appropriate actions/research, and make a decision you won’t regret.
The process of Stages 1 and 2 helps you concentrate on paths that can be meaningful for you. Career Decision Technology allows you to see which of your options are truly worthy of your exploration. This process helps you sort your possible directions using your own and others' experiences in the real world. This stage includes group brainstorming, where each participant gets the attention (and advice) of all others in the workshop. We finish with some action planning so that you have a step-by-step plan to get from where you are now, to your ultimate destination.

Some Frequently Asked Questions
Why online? Studies indicate that distance counseling can be extremely effective, especially with career guidance. Distance counseling tends to be more structured than face-to-face counseling, in addition to providing convenience and greater time flexibility. As a result, the participants may be more focused and specific as they deal with issues and concerns. The Oxford Method, because it is so systematic and effective, takes advantage of the Internet much better than conventional career counseling.
Why as a group? Group forms of career assistance have many advantages over individual career counseling. With group assistance, each session can become a shared learning experience which produces a wider range of useful ideas than a single counselor can routinely provide.
Am I eligible? Yes, so long as you are interested in creating your Personal Career Vision with very specific career paths and goals. It is not for people simply looking for job hunting help.
How much time will it take? As an adult, career choice becomes very complicated (probably over-complicated). We have so many fears, and we have financial restrictions that students don’t have. So, for adults to take an educated risk and completely improve their life, they have to feel like their decision makes great sense. So, the Oxford Program is not a quickie solution for impatient people. It’s a robust, thorough process for people serious about loving their work and life. To that end, we recommend people budget an average of 3-4 hours per week for the 7 weeks.
There are lots of sources of career help. Why should I choose this? Let’s face it. There are more than enough messages and information out there on career choice. In fact, too much. Yet, what you don’t find is a complete, systematic approach that includes every resource necessary.
What would you prefer? Some “take this test and discover your dream job” scheme that is bound for failure? Or a proven, step-by-step experience that is extremely practical, honest, scientific, and inspiring?
